I just realized this morning that I hadn’t tweeted in a week. Nor had I posted on my blog. What’s up with that? I haven’t been myself lately, that’s for certain. I’ve felt under the weather, both physically and mentally, and that could have something to do with the actual weather. It’s been rainy, grey, damp, cold, downright disgusting. I’m sick of it. I’m heading back to my apartment this Friday, so I’m hoping the change of scenery will kick me out of my funk, once and for all.
Exciting News: Free Life In Limbo Newsletter!
I do have an exciting announcement: I’ve started a blog newsletter! What does this mean? Once a month, I’ll be writing a jazzy little email about the blog: links to articles I’ve written during the past few weeks, and any news or other updates I have. It’s perfect for people who don’t use a RSS reader, because you’ll automatically be kept in the loop. Sound good? Well, then enter your email, either here or in the side bar of the blog! Let’s have some fun with this.
For now though, I’d like to share some amazing blog, articles and photos I’ve seen over the last couple weeks.
I love everything that comes out of Sarah Von’s mouth. If you’re not reading Yes and Yes yet, start immediately. It’s such a delicious mix of uplifting, inspiring, exciting and informative. I can’t believe I was so late to the party!
The idea of Kiss My Spatula’s homemade pantry inspires me so much. I want to make my own ketchup and baguettes!
Considering the fact that I love how leeks look, but never know what to do with them, Smitten Kitchen’s leek toasts sound more than incredible to me.
My friend Adrienne just sent this great video my way. I haven’t investigated exactly what the Plate to Planet project is, but the video, voiced by Jason Schwartzman, is exactly what we need. Like I’ve said before, everything in moderation, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing! Just having one vegetarian meal a week can make a difference – maybe not in the world, but in your education and your influence. Check out the video here, and get informed.
Mint Canada has arrived! I’m still a little nervous to hand over my banking information, but I can’t deny I’m tempted by the colourful charts and easy budgeting tools on offer. What do you guys think? Would you try Mint?
Leslie Beck is awesome. She wrote a piece in today’s Globe and Mail about conscious eating, and I think it’s worth checking out.
I loved what Sarah Wilson wrote about getting real online. It’s so true, isn’t it? We mostly post on our blogs and Twitter feeds all the positivity of our lives, share all the best moments and photos. But we hardly ever talk about when we’re sad, or upset.
I stopped at the bookstore yesterday with my Mum, and we picked up The Help by Kathryn Stockett (the trailer for the movie looks incredible) and Clean Food. Both look amazing. I’m currently reading The Condition, which is really good too!
I love Thought Catalog, and some of my favourites include: How To Be Alone, Your Teenage Self Versus Your 20-Something Self, Things You Will Never Get Back: Part Three. They’re so sad, nostalgic, almost like short stories.
This CNN Money guide to the biggest money-wasters is a damn good reminder. I am constantly paying ATM fees, eating out and buying expensive drinks. NO!
I love this post on Building Self Confidence.
White Girl Problems is hilarious, and shamefully close to the truth these days.
I really enjoyed Denzel Washington’s Commencement address:
I know this is old, but I should really watch it every day:
Lady Gaga is still incredible, people.
What have you guys seen lately that got you excited?
Yours in linky love,
